Movie lovers can enjoy Nevada’s largest film festival as the 22nd Annual Dam Short Film Festival returns to screen more than 150 short films over a six-day period, Feb. 11-16 in the Elaine K. Smith Building.

When the 2023 inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced last week, one newer resident of Boulder City had more of an emotional stake in the outcome than most.
1 READY TO ROLL: The third annual Rock, Roll & Stroll to benefit the Senior Center of Boulder City will be held Saturday at Bicentennial Park, 999 Colorado St. The family-friendly event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include rocking in rocking chairs and rolling in wheelchairs. There will be a kids zone and entertainment. Proceeds from the event support the Meals on Wheels program.
1 READY, SET, DIP: Salsas and a variety of other Mexican dips will be samples and judged during the second annual Mexican Chip Dip Competition to help raise funds for Emergency Aid of Boulder City. Sponsored by the Boulder City Elks lodge, the event will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at the lodge, 1217 Boulder City Parkway. The festivities also will include a silent auction, family activities and hamburger or hot dog lunch.
1 REACH FOR THE STARS: Join rangers from Lake Mead National Recreation Area and members of a local astronomical society to learn about the night sky Saturday in the amphitheater at Boulder Beach in the national park. A discussion about the impacts of light pollution will start the evening at 6:30. A telescope will be set up from 7-9:30 p.m. Call 702-293-8990 for more information.
The 14th annual Dam Short Film Festival, which ended four days of film screenings and film-related activities Sunday, was the largest to date for ticket sales, attendees and film submissions, according to festival organizers.
