Boulder City High School’s varsity girls volleyball team advanced to 17-3 on the season after winning its two most recent games.
Jedediah Smith, famous mountain man, trapper, explorer and map maker, may not have been the first white man to enter the Nevada area — some Spanish conquistadors most likely had crossed the same deserts and mountains before him — but Smith certainly was the first to spend any significant time exploring the region. He made two trips across Southern Nevada and one across sections of the central part of the state when all of it was just a blank area on any maps of the day.

Camryn Schaper, a senior at Boulder City High School, came in first place during the Southern Region 3A girls golf championships after two rounds. She shot an 82 Monday, Oct. 10, at Boulder City Golf Course and a 71 Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Boulder Creek Golf Club.

We take feedback seriously in City Hall about replacing streetlights and improving their radiance. We have been working on efficient and effective solutions for those in Boulder City, knowing that lighting is one of the most common contacts we receive within the city.

1 FIREMEN AND FLAPJACKS: Boulder City Firefighter’s Association presents its annual pancake breakfast and open house. Scheduled from 8-11 a.m. Saturday at the municipal fire department, 1101 Elm St., the morning event will include the opportunity to tour the station, look at firefighting equipment, ask firefighters questions, donate blood and, of course, a free pancake breakfast. Donations are welcome and support the association’s work throughout the community.
