1 CELEBRATE YOUR PARK: Junior Ranger Day on Saturday at the Alan Bible Visitor Center at Lake Mead National Recreation Area is one of the events planned to mark National Park Week. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be a variety of interactive activities that focus on nature and water safety for children. Over the Easter weekend I watched Cecil B. DeMille’s classic “The Ten Commandments.” In the dramatic scene when Moses receives the tablets, it reminded me that while Mount Sinai had a burning bush, Boulder City has smoking trees. OK, maybe not actually smoking, but the mulberry trees here sure look like they are when releasing pollen.
Actress Jean Harlow has two very prominent ties to Boulder City. While the actress’s life was short-lived — she died at the age of 26 from cerebral edema, a complication of kidney failure — she lived loudly.
