The scoreboard may have reflected a dreaded 44-8 loss to rival Moapa Valley on Oct. 3, but the optimism surrounding the Boulder City High School football team is much brighter heading into this week.

Finishing the regular season with an undefeated record, Boulder City High School girls golf finished strong at Casablanca on Sept. 30.
Competing at the Silver State Senior Games swim meet at Pavilion Pool in Las Vegas October 4-5, four members of Boulder City’s Masters swim team SONAR dominated the field.
Competing at the CSN Invitational at Floyd Lamb Park on Oct. 3, Aiden MacPherson and Caleb Wolfe finished fourth and fifth respectively out of 121 runners.
Clinching regular-season league titles, both Boulder City High School programs defeated Adelson on Sept. 30.
Boulder City High School junior Rhett Armstrong sparked the Sunrise Region’s six-run sixth inning May 25 at the College of Southern Nevada, holding off the Sunset Region for a 13-8 3A All-Star game victory. “I was fortunate enough to spark the inning for our team,” Armstrong said. “To play in an all-star game with so many great players was a tremendous honor. I’m glad I was able to come through for our team when we needed it.”
Dominant as ever Saturday at the Carson Aquatic Center, both Boulder City High School swim programs kept their 3A state championship streaks alive, holding off Northern challenger Truckee.
Taking advantage of a depleted Spring Creek pitching staff, Boulder City High School’s baseball team grabbed an early eight-run lead Saturday in the Class 3A state final at Faith Lutheran and held on to edge the Spartans 8-7 to capture its second consecutive state 3A championship.
It takes some time to drive to Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park, located a couple hours north of Tonopah, but the road trip is worth it, especially in summer, when the temperatures are at their most pleasant — perfect for seeing the historic sites, picnicking and camping. On the western edge of the Shoshone Mountains, the 1,540-acre park has elevations ranging from 6,840 to 7,880 feet.
Boulder City High School’s girls track and field program proved to be Southern Nevada’s most improved group Saturday at Foothill High School, placing sixth overall with 50 team points during the 3A state championships.
Garrett Junior High School held it’s 17th annual Spring Jam 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament on May 13 at the Boulder City Parks and Recreation Department’s new gym.
Proving to be the top high school golf program in Southern Nevada, Boulder City finished as the 3A state champion runner-up on Tuesday, falling behind only Northern Nevada competitor Spring Creek, which played on its home course.
Dominating their way to victory, both Boulder City High School swim programs were unbeatable on Friday at the 3A Southern Regional meet at UNLV.

Eagle-eyed followers of city government may have noticed multiple references by city officials over the past year to expect shortfalls in the Boulder City budget over the next few years. It is a fact of life for city staff, and the big decrease in tourism to the region is poised to make the situation even more dire.
