The scoreboard may have reflected a dreaded 44-8 loss to rival Moapa Valley on Oct. 3, but the optimism surrounding the Boulder City High School football team is much brighter heading into this week.

Finishing the regular season with an undefeated record, Boulder City High School girls golf finished strong at Casablanca on Sept. 30.
Competing at the Silver State Senior Games swim meet at Pavilion Pool in Las Vegas October 4-5, four members of Boulder City’s Masters swim team SONAR dominated the field.
Competing at the CSN Invitational at Floyd Lamb Park on Oct. 3, Aiden MacPherson and Caleb Wolfe finished fourth and fifth respectively out of 121 runners.
Clinching regular-season league titles, both Boulder City High School programs defeated Adelson on Sept. 30.
Summer travel is in full swing in the warm Southwest, so we need to turn our thoughts to higher elevations in search of agreeably cooler temperatures. A great destination for that purpose is the Owens Valley town of Bishop, California, at a cool 4,200 feet, roughly twice the elevation of Las Vegas. It’s not only a super place to spend a few days in the at the foot of the Eastern Sierra but also can serve as a wonderful base camp for visiting Mammoth Lakes, Lee Vining, Mono Lake and Yosemite National Park.
Blake Schaper, a freshman at Boulder City High School, was named the Class 3A Southern Region player of the year after placing third at the 3A state golf meet with an overall score of 152.
Bailey Bennett-Jordan, Boulder City High School’s senior softball star, capped her storied three-year career with the Lady Eagles by being named to the 3A All-Southern Region first team.
Three Eagles senior baseball players were selected to the 3A All-Southern Nevada first team after helping lead Boulder City High School to its fourth consecutive state tournament appearance.
Now is a wonderful time to take a couple of days or longer to enjoy the waters of Lake Powell. The summer crowds haven’t descended here yet and the daytime temperatures are ideal.

Eagle-eyed followers of city government may have noticed multiple references by city officials over the past year to expect shortfalls in the Boulder City budget over the next few years. It is a fact of life for city staff, and the big decrease in tourism to the region is poised to make the situation even more dire.
