I thought about the content of this column at around 2 a.m. I had woken up and for about an hour I wrote it in my head.
At some point last week (probably on Tuesday, which is typically our longest day here at the Review), as has happened many times before, I heard Ron say, “How about some music?”

It’s been four months since former City Manager Taylour Tedder left Boulder City to take a job in Delaware. Since his departure, I’ve been serving as acting city manager.
Oh, yeah! Political fur is flying, but, as my mother used to say: “Hold your horses.” Maybe there’s some thinking to do before we get too wild and crazy about issues, candidates and political affiliations. Maybe thought needs to be given to who is and isn’t registered to vote.
In a children’s tale there was a city of fools. The people had a town hall with a roof covered of grass. They wanted to cut it. The roof was too high. The ladder was too short. They thought a lot and decided to cut a piece of the low end of the ladder and lengthen it to its top end.
They came to Goldfield for the gold, of course. And Goldfield was a grand boom town in its day.
If everything you see lately seems to have a purplish hue, you don’t need to have your eyes examined. That’s because local residents have been busy Painting the Town Purple to help raise awareness for the annual Relay For Life.

Believe it or not, Interstate 11 has been under construction for almost a full year now. Sometimes called the Boulder City bypass, the initial 15-mile project is divided into two segments. Phase 1 is the 2½-mile segment between Railroad Pass and U.S. Highway 95 near the western edge of our city. Phase 2 is the longer, 12½-mile segment that will wrap around the south and east of our populated areas from U.S. 95 to a point near Hoover Dam Lodge and the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge.
In this day and age, children are learning how to use, run and build computers at a much younger age than did their parents, who may have had one computer class offered while in high school.
The contentious issue of changing the municipal code in Boulder City to set up a system under which residents interested in breeding cats and dogs would be able to get a license for doing that is not exactly back before the city council for consideration. But it has taken the first step in getting to that point.
BCHS has a new program it’s offering and students have the opportunity to get the life skills they need. The head wrestling coach, Clinton Garvin, a Boulder City alumni, is making his Boulder City teaching debut with the JAG program at the high school.
