When the 2023 inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced last week, one newer resident of Boulder City had more of an emotional stake in the outcome than most.
Filming movies, television shows or commercials in Las Vegas is very common. But over the years, Boulder City has seen its fair share of moments on the both the big and small screen as well as the pages of many magazines.
1 PATRIOTIC PARTY: The city’s many volunteers will be honored and saluted during the 69th annual Damboree. The day-long Fourth of July celebration kicks off at 7 a.m. with pancakes in Bicentennial Park and concludes around 11 p.m. with musical entertainment in Veterans’ Memorial Park. In between there will be a parade, games, contests, food, drink and, of course, a fireworks show (it starts at 9 p.m. at Veterans’ Memorial Park). 1 FAMILY AFFAIR: Take a trip through time with a father and his sons, who, as the Bronx Wanderers, perform music from the 1950s through the 1970s. The trio’s show begins at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, 100 St. Jude’s St., as part of Win-Win Entertainment’s monthly program. 1 FISHY BUSINESS: Anglers and those wanting to learn about the sport are invited to participate in Nevada’s Free Fishing Day Saturday. From 8-11 a.m. there will be an event at the pond at Veterans’ Memorial Park, 1650 Buchanan Blvd., featuring fishing, casting lessons, art, prizes and more.
1 COME DANCE WITH ME: Students from Dance Etc. will perform in two shows, “Tales from Transylvania” and “Tribute” at the historic Boulder Theatre. “Tales from Transylvania” will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday and noon Saturday. “Tribute” will be presented at 4 and 7 p.m. Saturday.
