Boulder City native RJ Kilar is about to enter the sixth grade this fall, but is filled with a passion for baseball that would suggest he’s already a seasoned veteran.His passion for the sport so large it could only be filled with a trip to baseball’s hallowed grounds in Cooperstown.
Fresh off a 2016 campaign in which they were crowned Division I-A state champions, the seasoning never stops for the Boulder City baseball program under head coach Bobby Reese, who has a majority of his players playing under him this summer for the Southern Nevada Eagles in the Connie Mack league.
While the baseball program under head coach Bobby Reese is staying together this summer to get some summer seasoning, a pair of Lady Eagles softball standouts are on the move in hopes of bettering their game for another state tournament push next season.
Glen Canyon, Arizona, contains one of the few stretches of river whose beauty rivals that of the Grand Canyon farther down the Colorado River. However, it is much more easily experienced, through smooth-water raft trips launching directly below Glen Canyon Dam and traveling downstream about 15 miles to Lee’s Ferry. Along the way you will be treated to a close-up view of Glen Canyon Dam, stunning scenery, plenty of wildlife, and prehistoric and historic sites.
Boulder City High’s two-way star Peyton Koopman will find himself in good company next season, staying home to play for local junior college power College of Southern Nevada with a handful of the state’s premier prospects.
Newly crowned Division I-A state champions, the Boulder City High School’s boys and girls swim programs were honored Tuesday by City Council for their achievements, both collectively and individually.
Boulder City High School baseball coach Bobby Reese wanted to do more than just make it to the state tournament this season; he wanted to win it all. Instilling a winning culture and a never-quit mentality, Reese’s ball club was able to do just that, giving the program its first Division I-A state title since 2006.
Boulder City High School new graduates Peyton Koopman and Charlie Masterson are a pair of generational type athletes for the Eagles. Four-year contributors for their respective programs, the dynamic duo has left a legacy at Boulder City that will be tough to be match following their departures. Athletic royalty in their community, Koopman’s and Masterson’s achievements haven’t regulated them to just their rural area, having being highlighted this past week as Nevada All-State selections for their respected sports.
