Tennis teams continue court dominance

Continuing to roll this season, both Boulder City High School tennis programs routed rival Virgin Valley in a victory on Sept. 16.

Advancing to 8-1 on the season, the boys defeated the Bulldogs 14-4, behind singles players Bryce Schrock (3-0), Jake Richards (2-0) and Nathan Law (2-0).

In doubles play, the tandems of Will Teeples and Miles Alder and Seamus Lemon and Grady Crine each finished 2-1, while the team of Thomas Allen and James Peel ended 1-2.

Advancing to 6-2-1 on the season, the girls defeated the Bulldogs 14-4, behind singles players Abrina Soares (3-0) Audrey Humphrey (3-0) and Brooklyn Koster (2-1).

In doubles play, the tandem of Chelsie Larson and Lyla Gunson finished 3-0, while Harmony Cook and Quinn Gibson finished 2-1.

Wrapping up the regular season, the Eagles will look to remain dominant today at home against American Heritage, followed by a road game on Monday at Pahrump Valley.

Girls volleyball

Experiencing some league woes, Boulder City High School girls volleyball dropped a league match to rival Virgin Valley 3-1 on Sept. 15.

Falling in defeat 18-25, 25-18, 18-25, 12-25, the Eagles dropped to 7-9 on the season.

Trying to keep the Eagles competitive, Bella Battistone generated nine kills with nine digs defensively, while Juliette Kelso added five kills and four digs.

Filling the stat sheet, Laylani Gubler dished out 13 assists, with 13 digs and five kills.

Looking to get back on track, the Eagles will host The Meadows today, followed by a weekend tournament in the Dragon Invitational.

Girls soccer

Boulder City High School girls soccer suffered their first league defeat on Sept. 15, falling to rival Moapa Valley 2-0. Traveling to Overton, it was the second time the Eagles failed to score a goal during league play this season, tying with The Meadows 0-0 on Sept. 1.

Currently in third place in league standings, the Eagles will look to rebound on Sept. 28 against Cristo Rey.

They’ll play a pair of non-league home games against White Pine on Sept. 25 and 26.

Boys soccer

Boulder City High School boys soccer hosted 4A Foothill on Sept. 16, suffering a 7-0 defeat.

Falling to 1-5-2 on the season, the Eagles will look to get back in the win column today with a game against Cristo Rey.

Cross country

Hosting the Silver State 3K at Veterans Memorial Park on Sept. 19, Boulder City High School boys cross country star Oliver Potter finished 14th out of 121 runners.

A strong showing for the boys, the Eagles placed a total of four runners in the top half, headlined by Caleb Wolfe (26th place), Cameron Riley (57th) and Jason Hastings (64th). In the girls race, Zoey Hayes finished 56th out of 92 runners. Prepping for a weekday race; the Eagles will head to Pahrump Valley on Tuesday.
