The holiday season is here! Radio stations are playing the classic songs, thousands turned out for the Electric Night Parade, stores are bustling with customers, and kids are creating their wish list for Santa.
You know that Progressive Insurance commercial that humorously depicts a “Parent-Life Coach” advising young homeowners on how to avoid turning into their parents? When the coach corrects homeowners to not chime in on strangers’ conversations, it made me realize, I’ve totally become my mother. (But I’m OK with it, because my mom was awesome.)
Another year is coming to an end… which always makes me reflect on all the things that occurred in the past 12 months.
First off, let me wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. I hope it’s filled with some of my favorite F-words…family, friends, fun, food and football.
Boulder City loves, honors and respects its veterans and active-duty military members.
“Tregin’ ” is a remarkable movie with an independent feel filmed at Hoover Dam. The movie debuted in 2006 and stars Sean Patrick Flaherty. “Tregin’ ” appealed to me, and is my Throwback Thursday recommendation because it’s a wonderful reflection of a personal journey.
The names of veterans service organizations cover a large linguistic spectrum. Examples of well-known names are Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
The days are ticking by as Interstate 11 inches toward completion. By the end of the year, it will be open and thousands of cars will bypass Boulder City as they make their way to destinations north and south of the community.
When you cannot work for the city and you don’t want to run for elected office, what can you do to serve your city government directly? You can serve on a City Council-appointed board or commission. We have 11 such boards in the city with dozens of volunteer members.
Do your priorities guide your life? Whoa! Who has time for priorities? Here are a few of mine.

There was a lot of talking around the issue and trying to be diplomatic. For a while. But, while the discussion centered around the appropriate use of land, in truth the discussion was likely over with the first mention of the term, “monster truck.”
Construction on the Nevada State Railroad Museum at the busiest intersection in town is progressing at a rapid pace and because of that, is set for a spring completion.
