Boulder City High School wrestling was busy this past week, competing in a tri-dual at home on Dec. 10, followed by a trip to La Costa Canyon in Carlsbad, Calif. on Dec. 12.

Boulder City High School flag football advanced to 3-1 on the season, defeating Cheyenne and Basic this past week.
Boulder City High School boys basketball picked up a big victory over Moapa Valley on Dec. 12, rebounding from defeat against The Meadows on Dec. 10. They are now 4-1 on the young season.
Rebounding from a season-opening defeat, Boulder City High School flag football defeated Moapa Valley 20-0 on Dec. 5 for their first victory of the season.
Off to a 3-0 start, Boulder City High School boys basketball is using their length to frustrate opponents early this season.
Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, located on the Utah-Arizona border, boasts some of the most striking buttes, mesas, arches and panoramic views in the entire world. You have no doubt seen images of these formations, for they have been prominently featured in hundreds of television and print advertisements, and in films. But seeing the place firsthand is totally awe-inspiring. It’s one of those places that everyone should see in person, at least once in a lifetime.
Boulder City High School’s baseball program is currently fighting for a spot in the 3A Sunrise division playoffs, responding well to the test this week with a pair of league victories over Del Sol and Southeast Career Technical Academy to advance to 3-2 in league play.
Boulder City High School’s softball program is firmly in the driver’s seat of the 3A Sunrise league, claiming victories over Del Sol on Monday and Southeast Career Technical Academy on Tuesday to advance to 5-0.
Boulder City High School’s boys golf program continues to roll through its 3A Sunrise opponents, notching its fourth consecutive league victory.
Boulder Boats has announced the return of the Malibu World Wake Association Rider Experience on Lake Las Vegas. Scheduled for May 5-7, the event provides an opportunity for riders of all skill levels to learn from the best in the sport.
Each week the coaches at Boulder City High School nominate an athlete to spotlight for contributions made to his or her team. This week’s honor goes to senior Kenadee Bailey, who is a jumper, hurdler and relay sprinter for the track and field team. Coach Sara Fisher said Bailey “has shown excellent drive and fierce competition” as the top triple jumper in the 3A southern division and in the top three for the 100- and 300-meter hurdles. “In the Mojave meet, while running the 100 hurdles, she fell, jumped up, took off running and still scored second.” Bailey is a member of the 4×400 team that beat Mojave and is currently ranked first in the division. Bailey also plays volleyball and flag football for the school. She is the daughter of Kim and Kurt Bailey.

It’s now less than a week away before people will be practicing their backward countdown from 10 to 1, while often wishing the year ahead will be better than the 365 days that just went by in a blink of an eye.

If one were to listen to William O’Shaughnessy, Kailaash Malacarne, Emma Graham and Maxwell O’Connor talk about reading, and the excitement that elicits, it shows that there’s hope that in a digital-based world, book stores and libraries will be around for many years to come.
It’s been about a year since a local family fell in love with a badly-beaten, one-eyed puppy, who they would soon adopt.
