The past few weeks have been busy at Garrett Junior High School as students have continued to settle into the school year, participate in fall activities, and work toward finishing the first quarter strong.
September is always a busy month at Boulder City High School.
That first day I feel a little fall chill, I always chuckle to myself thinking about the “sweata weatha” exchange between Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler from their SNL sketch. While much of the country is pulling on sweaters, downing pumpkin lattes, and decorating for fall, we’re still wearing flip-flops and kicking on the AC.
Walt Disney once said, “I think what I want Disneyland to be most of all is a happy place – a place where adults and children can experience together some of the wonders of life, of adventure, and feel better because of it.”
Anyone who’s ever accidentally locked themselves out of their house knows that sinking feeling. But locked out while barefoot and in pajamas? That’s the makings of a funny story, however unfunny it appears in the moment.
Due to the Clark County School District’s Change of School Assignment program (COSA) as well as declining resident enrollment, a large percentage of the school’s enrollment comes from outside of Boulder City. For the high school, out of the 618 students, 29%, or 179 kids, come from elsewhere, mostly from Henderson.

Dominating the field, Boulder City High School girls golf won the 3A Southern regional championship on Oct. 8 at Aliante Golf Club.
It’s been nearly two decades since Boulder City Chamber of Commerce CEO Jill Rowland Lagan first brought up the concept of having a one-stop shop for outdoor adventures.
