For those who are willing to continue to communicate in person, there can continue to be love flowing from the hearts of each person in any conversation.

Watching my daughter choose from the colorful folders with her supply list in hand is too adorable for words. But guilt often overshadows that excitement when the teachers try to rope parents into joining the parent-teacher organization.

Alumni get their kicks against BCHS soccer team

The Boulder City High School boys soccer team had its first test of the season Saturday, Aug. 6. They faced off against the school’s alumni team in a scrimmage that ended in a 4-3 penalty kick victory for the alumni.

In desert, plants need purpose

Q. Our sweet bay laurel trees face east and are watered by a drip irrigation system on a separate line for trees only. Obviously, these trees are not doing well. They were originally 24-inch boxed trees planted in 2013. Our homeowners association contends they are close to the end of their lives, and they will be removed. Any ideas?

Fire department targets sites to improve response times

Two locations are being targeted for a new Boulder City Fire substation that the City Council approved last month to help the department improve response time to emergencies. The proposed new fire station, labeled Station 122, is looking at sites at Quartzite Road and Nevada Way as well as near the library at 701 Adams Boulevard. The city owns land in both locations.
