Boulder City High School baseball has started league play off hot, sweeping a series with The Meadows this past week.
Finishing preseason play this past week, the Eagles enter upcoming league play with a 10-9 record, with some impressive victories on their resume.
League play couldn’t have started off any better for Boulder City High School softball, routing The Meadows 15-0 in their opener on March 30.
A late game rally pushed the Wildcats to a 6-5 victory against the Lady Eagles softball team Friday night.
Each week the coaches at Boulder City High School nominate an athlete to spotlight for contributions made to his or her team. This week’s honoree is senior Luke Logan, a member of the boys golf team. He was the individual medalist in all three of the team’s Sunrise League matches, shooting a 1 under par 71 twice and 6 over par 77, leading the team to victory each time. He is the son of Jennifer and Shawn Logan.
Luke Logan hits a chip shot on the first hole in the Division I-A match held April 9 at the Boulder City municipal golf course. Logan shot a 1 under par 71 to help Boulder City win the event, coming in with a team score of 411. Quentin Turner shot 83, Kyler Atkinson shot 84, Hunter Ulibarri shot 85, Samu Jancuk shot 88 and Jackson Wright shot 90. It was the team’s third consecutive league victory.
Junior pitcher Charlene Masterson led the Lady Eagles softball team to a 12-2 win over Chaparral on Tuesday, giving Boulder City its sixth consecutive league win. The team is now 6-0 in the league.
The tension at Tuesday’s baseball game against Chaparral was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
Black Canyon National Water Trail, located within Lake Mead National Recreation Area, is one of only 16 national water trails in the United States, and the first one in the Southwest. Designated last year, this Colorado River corridor stretches from Hoover Dam about 30 miles downstream to Lake Mojave.
Breann Sanford of Boulder City will represent Nevada as part of the state team competing at USA Gymnastics’ regional championships April 18 and 19 in Phoenix.

This week’s honoree is junior Nolan DeSantis, who was 13-for-17 in the Eagle’s spring break tournament in Anaheim, Calif., giving him a .765 batting average. The team was 1-4 in the tourney’s five games. He is the son of Susan and William DeSantis.
Boulder City girls basketball forward Megan Morton was selected to the Division I-A all-state first team March 20. She also received all-state honors in 2014 when she was second-team.

Last week, the Christian Center Church hosted four showings of Garden to Grave: Live Stations of the Cross. Pastor Deborah Downs said the Stations of the Cross “are a contemplative practice of walking the way of suffering with Jesus. If one were to visit the city of Jerusalem, they would discover all 14 stations on what is called the Via Dolorosa – The Sorrowful Way – a path from Pilate’s court to Golgotha to the tomb.”
