Lady Eagles tested early on the court
Boulder City High School girls volleyball advanced to 5-5 on the season, after splitting a pair of games last week.
“I feel like we’re playing better,” head coach Chad Robinson said. “As each match passes, we’re continuing to improve.”
Following a hard-fought loss to 5A Arbor View on Aug. 19, the Eagles rebounded with a 3-2 victory over Coral Academy on Aug. 20.
Grinding out a hard-fought 15-25, 31-29, 20-25, 25-9, 15-12 victory, Bella Battistone was the story of the night, carrying the Eagles to victory with 17 kills, 11 digs and two serving aces.
“Bella’s our go-to player right now, offensively,” Robinson said. “She had a great performance against Coral.”
Having a monster game on defense, Lauren Mueller made nine blocks, while Juliette Kelso and Laylani Gubler each added four blocks.
Diving for loose balls, Kenley Poff led the way with 13 digs, while Addison Welbourne added 12. Alley Jappe made 10 digs, while Gubler dished out 24 assists.
Playing tough against 5A Arbor View, the Eagles fell 25-20, 25-12, 25-19.
Battistone had six kills with seven digs, while Welbourne had 10 digs.
“We scheduled the Arbor game to see where we stand against the tougher teams,” Robinson said. “We want to be put in pressure situations to get the girls used to them.”
Looking to build a winning streak, the Eagles will host Democracy Prep on Friday, followed by a home game against Pahrump on Tuesday.
