Saturday night, a large crowd donned their best 1980s attire, which included an abundance of neon-colored clothing as part of the aptly-named Neon Nights. The block party was hosted by Main Street Boulder City and served as a make-up event for their planned New Year’s Eve celebration, which was canceled due to impending weather. Attendees filled the restautants and bars along the steet, while listening to 80s music played by DJ Mike Pacini.
As the old saying goes, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.”
This past weekend, the Boulder City Art Guild hosted its annual Artists in Action show and sale at the Boulder City Parks and Rec gym. While members do not have to live in Boulder City, all participants must be members of the Art Guild. Top, Boulder City artist Barbara Pearce uses a dotting technique to paint images onto rocks. This past Friday evening, a large and appreciative crowd turned out for the Nevada Shakespeare Festival’s performance of “Henry V” in Bicentennial Park. The performance was hosted by Main Street Boulder City and the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce. NSF featured six actors and actresses, who each played six to eight characters during the 80-minute performance.
Lovers of William Shakespeare need to mark March 13 on their calendars.
1CHEERS FOR BEERS: The fourth annual festival returns to downtown Boulder City as 30 local, regional and national brewers showcase their beers in Wilbur Square Park. The fest also includes entertainment and informational sessions about brewing beer. 1EGG HUNT: Area youngsters are invited to meet the Easter Bunny and hunt for treasures during the 62nd annual Easter Egg Hunt in Wilbur Square Park in downtown Boulder City. Photos with the Easter Bunny begin at 8 a.m. and the egg hunt for toddlers through second grade is set to start at 9. Boulder City United Methodist Church is presenting the free community event. 1WINE WALK: The Best Dam Wine Walk and Second Saturday celebration returns to downtown from 4-8 p.m. Saturday. “Mardi Crawl” is theme of this month’s festivities. There will be more than 20 participating locations. Tickets are $25 per person or $45 a couple. Purchase a wine glass and wristband at the first stop, Boulder City Chamber of Commerce, 465 Nevada Way. The last wine glasses will be sold at 6:30 p.m.
1PLUNGE FOR PRIZES: Area children are invited to participate in the inaugural Easter Pool Plunge at the Boulder City Swimming Pool, 861 Avenue B. It’s a wet twist on a traditional Easter egg hunt as treasure seekers dive in the municipal pool for prize-filled plastic eggs. Cost is $2 per person. Call 702-293-9286 for more information.
