Unable to continue their postseason success, Boulder City High School girls soccer bowed out in the second round of the postseason on Oct. 31 with a 2-1 defeat to Equipo Academy.
Five Eagles will represent Boulder City High School in the cross country state championships this weekend, after strong performances at regionals.
Opening round of the postseason was the perfect time for Boulder City High School to snap a two-game skid, defeating Democracy Prep 14-8 on Oct. 30.
The word phenom is defined as a person who is outstandingly talented or admired, especially an up-and-comer.
The Boulder City High School boys tennis program will be in search of their first 3A state championship since 1977 when it faces Northern Nevada challenger South Tahoe today in the state semifinals at the Reno Tennis Center.
Boulder City High School star golfer junior Lani Potter won the state’s individual title, ending a six-year drought, helping her teammates to a second-place finish against Northern Nevada challenger Elko during the state championships played Monday and Tuesday at Ruby View Golf Course in Elko, Nevada.
Each week the coaches at Boulder City High School nominate an athlete to spotlight for contributions made to his or her team. This week’s honoree is senior Camilla Sartor, who runs on the varsity cross-country team. Sartor has been a key member of the team, consistently improving her times at each race, according to coaches Canaan Petersen and Staci Selinger. She won the team’s home weekday meet Sept. 14 and was the first-place finisher in the region at the Spartan Invite on Oct. 1. An exchange student from Italy, she is the daughter of Stefano Sartor and Mara Benedetti; her host parents are Troy and Staci Selinger.
For a short outing from Las Vegas, a trip to Corn Creek at the Desert National Wildlife Refuge is a great choice. Less than 30 miles from the city you can stroll the short nature trails, visit a perennial stream and spring-fed ponds, see lush vegetation and also do some birding in a quiet outdoor environment. And you can do it all in about half a day.
The Boulder City High School girls volleyball program (12-13 overall, 4-1 conference) got back to its winning ways Oct. 5, defeating Chaparral soundly with a 3-0 sweep.
The quarterfinals of the 3A Southern Region individual tennis bracket will be well represented by Boulder City High School when competitors from the Eagles and Lady Eagles take the court today at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas.

Anyone who has been around the Boulder City political world for any stretch of time already knows that Mayor Joe Hardy is a pretty humble guy and not one to toot his own horn.
When Utilities Director Joe Stubitz briefed the city council on the status of Boulder City’s Dark Sky initiative, which involves replacing hundreds of street light fixtures with modern versions that aim light onto the ground and not into the sky, it was notable for reasons beyond spending and how soon the program would be finished.
Boulder City has a great vision statement. It’s located on the front page of our website: “The City of Boulder City is committed to preserving its status as a small town, with a small-town charm, historical heritage and unique identity, while proactively addressing our needs and enhancing our quality of life.”
