When the 2023 inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced last week, one newer resident of Boulder City had more of an emotional stake in the outcome than most.

1 SWEET SOMMELIER: The American Association of University Women will host its semiannual wine and chocolate tasting from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the Boulder Dam Hotel, 1305 Arizona St. Tickets are $10, and attendees will receive a souvenir Boulder Dam Hotel wine glass in addition to all the wine and chocolate they care to enjoy. All of the wines and chocolates are donated by members, so all of the proceeds will go toward scholarships for local women who are returning to college. 1 POOL PAWTY: The Boulder City Pool will host the second annual Soggy Doggy pool party Saturday. Friday marks the last day of the summer for the municipal pool, and to bid farewell to those dog days be sure to bring your favorite furry friend for a jump in the water before the facility is shut down for two weeks of cleaning and preparation for fall and winter. All dog owners will need to bring a Boulder City dog license and proof of up-to-date shots. The Soggy Doggy party will start at 9 a.m. and end at noon. The pool will reopen Sept. 26.
1 Solo Songwriter: Marty Feick will perform at The Dillinger Food and Drinkery on Friday night. The alternative country, solo act is influenced by artists like Ryan Adams and Goodnight Texas, and he’ll be playing original songs off his three studio albums. 1 ACOUSTIC SOUL: Americana singer-songwriter Toney Rocks plays a free, all-ages show at 8 p.m. Saturday at Boulder Dam Brewing Co., 453 Nevada Way. The Las Vegas-based musician has been on tour all summer supporting his new album, “No Road Too Long,” and the final stop is in Boulder City.
