For the past three decades, it’s been looked upon as the event that kicks off the very busy fall event schedule in Boulder City.

Whether as a location for builders of Hoover Dam to escape the heat, a place to see movies with families, friends or a date, or a venue to enjoy ballet performances, the Boulder Theatre has been a favorite local historical landmark for nearly a century.
Saturday night, a large crowd donned their best 1980s attire, which included an abundance of neon-colored clothing as part of the aptly-named Neon Nights. The block party was hosted by Main Street Boulder City and served as a make-up event for their planned New Year’s Eve celebration, which was canceled due to impending weather. Attendees filled the restautants and bars along the steet, while listening to 80s music played by DJ Mike Pacini.
As the old saying goes, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.”
This past weekend, the Boulder City Art Guild hosted its annual Artists in Action show and sale at the Boulder City Parks and Rec gym. While members do not have to live in Boulder City, all participants must be members of the Art Guild. Top, Boulder City artist Barbara Pearce uses a dotting technique to paint images onto rocks. For nearly a decade, Dr. Christina Vela has not only been the CEO of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children but often a pseudo-mom to many boys and girls who have call the Ranch home. This has come by way of offering a sympathetic ear, the proverbial shoulder to cry on or being their biggest cheerleader.
This past school year, discussion among many parents of school-aged children, as well as teachers and administrators, was what may come of talk of school consolidation.
Through the midway point of the season, both Boulder City High School tennis programs are clicking on all cylinders.
Boulder City High School girls soccer advanced to 4-0-2 on the season, routing 4A Basic on Sept. 10, while tying with league rival Pahrump Valley on Sept. 9.
