Lady Eagles rout Basic, tie Pahrump Valley

Boulder City High School girls soccer advanced to 4-0-2 on the season, routing 4A Basic on Sept. 10, while tying with league rival Pahrump Valley on Sept. 9.

“We’re having a good start to the season,” head coach Kristin Shelton said. “I expect to continually grow together as a team through the season and hopefully see some more wins.”

Showing growth in a major way against the 4A Wolves, six different players scored a goal in a 9-1 rout.

“I love games where everyone is creating opportunities,” Shelton said. “We talk a lot about how to be involved in the play and it’s nice to see so many girls being active in the game and making things happen.”

Leading the way for the Eagles, Lila Stankovic scored three goals, while dishing out three assists, while Kora Remedi added two goals and an assist.

Savanna Starley added a goal and an assist, while Sophia Elburn, Shasta Ryan-Willett and Susan Muir each scored a goal.

Talya Huntsman also dished out an assist, while Kennedy Steckelberg made a game-high six steals.

Tying with Pahrump Valley 1-1, Elburn scored on an assist from Stankovic.

In the net, Reese Pusko made eight saves.

Currently sitting in second place in the league standings, the Eagles will next play at home against White Pine on Sept. 25.
