Excelling as a three-sport athlete, Boulder City High School junior Sancha Jenas-Keogh has been named Boulder City Review girls athlete of the year.

Continuing their claim as the most accomplished high school boys volleyball program in the 3A classification this decade, Boulder City High School had four players named to the All-State team.

Each week the coaches at Boulder City High School nominate an athlete to spotlight for contributions made to his or her team. This week’s honoree is senior Luke Logan, a member of the boys golf team. He was the individual medalist in all three of the team’s Sunrise League matches, shooting a 1 under par 71 twice and 6 over par 77, leading the team to victory each time. He is the son of Jennifer and Shawn Logan.
Luke Logan hits a chip shot on the first hole in the Division I-A match held April 9 at the Boulder City municipal golf course. Logan shot a 1 under par 71 to help Boulder City win the event, coming in with a team score of 411. Quentin Turner shot 83, Kyler Atkinson shot 84, Hunter Ulibarri shot 85, Samu Jancuk shot 88 and Jackson Wright shot 90. It was the team’s third consecutive league victory.
Junior pitcher Charlene Masterson led the Lady Eagles softball team to a 12-2 win over Chaparral on Tuesday, giving Boulder City its sixth consecutive league win. The team is now 6-0 in the league.
The tension at Tuesday’s baseball game against Chaparral was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
Black Canyon National Water Trail, located within Lake Mead National Recreation Area, is one of only 16 national water trails in the United States, and the first one in the Southwest. The development of the area near Boulder Creek Golf Course known as Tract 350 (the sale of which is slated to pay for the majority of the planned replacement for the aging municipal pool) may have hit a snag last week as the planning commission voted 5-1 to deny the developers’ request to build houses closer to the street than is allowed under current law.
