Wine Walk returns for seventh season
It’s kind of like trick-or-treating but for adults.
And instead of going around and asking for candy, the treat is wine.
Now in its seventh year, the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce’s Best Dam Wine Walk has been a hit with locals and those who come into town to enjoy the event.
“The Best Dam Wine Walk invites both local and neighboring guests to join the businesses in showcasing their location and services,” said Chamber CEO Jill Rowland Lagan. “This engaging event drives people into the participating storefronts and shares what great restaurants, retail, and attractions we have in Boulder City, all while they enjoy themselves with lighthearted themes and costumes.”
Currently, there are 30 contracted businesses that will be listed on the Best Dam Wine Walk map.
This year’s line-up of dates and themes will include:
Sept. 12 - Western Walk
Oct. 10 - Halloween Costume Walk
Nov. 14 - Prom Night Walk
Dec. 12 - Ugly Sweater Walk
Jan. 9 - Pajama Party Walk
Feb. 13 - Mardi Gras Walk
March 13 - Lucky Leprechaun Walk
April 10 - Luau Walk
Rowland Lagan said they average about 350 participants each month but have seen double that on occasion.
“We have done public surveys and group discussions with the participating merchants,” she said of how they pick the themes. “Then the chamber board has the final approval.
“We have learned that the holidays are pretty sacred to walkers. They like us to keep to those themes. We always have the October costume walk and the ugly sweater walk in December. We would surely hear about it if we didn’t keep those.”
Each month’s Wine Walk has check-in begin at 3:30 p.m. at Frank T. Crowe Park at 640 Nevada Highway. The event itself runs until 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at bestdamwinewalk.com or by calling 702-293-2034.
