Church to host Sept. 11 event
As a way to honor those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, Calvary Chapel of Boulder City will be hosting an event to do just that.
On Sept. 12, a memorial of sorts, will be held beginning at 10 a.m. and lasting for about an hour at Bicentennial Park. Attendees should bring their own chairs or blankets to sit on. No food is being served.
According to Pastor Jason King, at the ceremony they will remember and honor the losses and the heroes of that day and the days that followed. Then they will hear from some city leaders and others about their own remembrance of that day and how it impacted them personally or professionally.
King said they will also recognize and honor local emergency responders from the Boulder City Police Department, Boulder City Fire Department and Boulder City Hospital, with leaders from each in attendance to be recognized.
“And we will honor our military as well,” he said. “Some of our local pastors will offer prayers of thanksgiving and blessing for each of these four groups.”
As to why they are hosting, King said, “As a pastor and a member of the Boulder City Christian Ministerial Association, I wanted to make sure that we honor those to whom honor is due in our country and in our city. And, I wanted to publicly acknowledge God for His blessings upon us. I helped organize a 20th anniversary remembrance like this back in 2021, so I’m doing the same now for the 25th anniversary. Basically, because it is good and right to show honor and gratitude to God for our country.”
