Reese earns baseball coach of year honor

Boulder City High School baseball coach Bobby Reese wanted to do more than just make it to the state tournament this season; he wanted to win it all. Instilling a winning culture and a never-quit mentality, Reese’s ball club was able to do just that, giving the program its first Division I-A state title since 2006.

Star athletes Koopman, Masterson recognized with All-State honors

Boulder City High School new graduates Peyton Koopman and Charlie Masterson are a pair of generational type athletes for the Eagles. Four-year contributors for their respective programs, the dynamic duo has left a legacy at Boulder City that will be tough to be match following their departures. Athletic royalty in their community, Koopman’s and Masterson’s achievements haven’t regulated them to just their rural area, having being highlighted this past week as Nevada All-State selections for their respected sports.

While athletic accomplishments are meant to be duplicated, the work ethic and desire to be a champion cannot. This is where Gomez will and has always separated himself from the pack.

It’s looking like another banner will be hung in the gymnasium for Boulder City High’s boys and girls swim programs this season following first-place team finishes this past week at the Division I-A Southern region meet at UNLV.

Regional rally by softball team leads to state appearance

Coming into the season, senior Boulder City two-way softball star Charlie Masterson had hoped for a state tournament appearance to close out her storied prep career with the Lady Eagles. Today, the four-year starter will get her wish when the Lady Eagles take on Northern Nevada opponent Fernley.

Eagles capture regional baseball title

Junior Boulder City High starting pitcher Jake Hubel is rarely seen as the ace of the Eagles’ deep pitching staff. With that honor going toward heralded seniors Peyton Koopman and Steve Wagner this season, Hubel wasn’t often called upon in do-or-die moments by head coach Bobby Reese to propel the Eagles to a victory. When his moment came, however, the emerging junior was ready.

Five track athletes qualify for state; Gomez to defend discus title

Boulder City will be sending five athletes to the track and field state meet Friday and Saturday at Carson High School in Reno, Nevada, highlighted by a pair of boys participates and a trio of Lady Eagles.
