That first day I feel a little fall chill, I always chuckle to myself thinking about the “sweata weatha” exchange between Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler from their SNL sketch. While much of the country is pulling on sweaters, downing pumpkin lattes, and decorating for fall, we’re still wearing flip-flops and kicking on the AC.
Walt Disney once said, “I think what I want Disneyland to be most of all is a happy place – a place where adults and children can experience together some of the wonders of life, of adventure, and feel better because of it.”
The holiday season is almost upon us, with Halloween coming up.
I’m certain that today every American who was an adult on 9/11 remembers what he or she was doing during the terrorist attacks.
The citizens of Boulder City are being given the opportunity to cast votes for what they value in a community. The upcoming ballot issue in regard to a new city pool runs much deeper than lap lanes and a dive tank. We are being asked to vote on community values.
As a former small business owner, I am a big proponent of capitalism. Capitalism is the primary engine that our economy is founded upon. Small businesses, entrepreneurship, free enterprise are some of the elements that make up the foundation that keeps our country’s economic engine purring.
Ever hear the phrase: “I’m a lover not a fighter”? Or maybe you heard it the other way around. No matter. I like to think of myself as a lover but ready to fight for what I love and believe. What about you?
Most local families rationally choose how they spend the finite amount of money available to them. Public spending needs to follow suit.
Broadbent Memorial Park encompasses five acres of recreational facilities, including a swimming pool, tennis courts and green space for picnic and play areas. The Boulder City Pool offers healthy, affordable, enriching and fun programs.
In 1962, President (John F.) Kennedy signed a proclamation, established by a joint congressional resolution, designating May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day to honor all peace officers who were killed or disabled in the line of duty. The week of May 15 was designated as National Police Week. This year, National Police Week is May 9-15.
It is my honor to serve as the Assembly Republican caucus whip in the 81st legislative session. The caucus fought to open the building to the public long before session began. Our pressure was eventually successful in opening the building. It has been a pleasure meeting with some of my constituents inside my office who made the journey up and I look forward to seeing more.
Spring has arrived with warming temperatures along with the usual winds. We are also beginning to see the warming of our local businesses with the downward trends of the COVID-19 pandemic.
I surely can’t be the only one excited for this weekend’s Spring Jamboree.

Beginning this month, Boulder City residents will see a bump in their power bills.
During Saturday’s Nevada Press Foundation’s annual Awards of Excellence, the Boulder City Review came away with six awards in the rural category during a ceremony at Springs Preserve in Las Vegas.
Bouncing back from their first league defeat of the season, Boulder City High School girls soccer added a pair of wins this past week to build some momentum.
Six Boulder City residents are seeking either reelection or to become a new face on the Boulder City Council dais.
