Seen on Scene: At the Heart of the Community Gala

The seventh annual Heart of the Community Gala raised funds for Boulder City Hospital while honoring longtime volunteers and residents John and Christine Milburn. The evening’s festivities included silent and live auctions, the tribute to the Milburns, as well as a special tribute to the late Dr. Michael Ravitch, a surgeon and supporter of the hospital who died in January.

Stunning scenery: Raft trips through Glen Canyon let you get up close with flora, fauna

Glen Canyon, Arizona, contains one of the few stretches of river whose beauty rivals that of the Grand Canyon farther down the Colorado River. Early Sunday morning Omar Mateen walked into Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, and killed 49 people using a semi-automatic rifle and a 9mm semi-automatic pistol. A day later, 2,000 miles away from the site of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, residents of Boulder City and Las Vegas gathered for a vigil by the duck pond in Veterans’ Memorial Park.

Reese earns baseball coach of year honor

Instilling a winning culture and a never-quit mentality, Reese’s ball club was able to do just that, giving the program its first Division I-A state title since 2006.
