Eagles’ bowling team continues winning streak

The Boulder City boy’s bowling team continues to take care of the competition after winning its fourth consecutive match Monday afternoon against the Del Sol Dragons at Wildfire Lanes in Henderson.

The Eagles took all three games against Del Sol and improved their record to 38-7 for the season. The Eagles are on a 36-point winning streak, and have not relinquished a point since their opening match of the season against Chaparral Dec. 1.

“We’re bowling better as a team,” said junior Teagan Smale, whose 246 game and 643 series were highs for the match against Del Sol. “We’ve just got to keep battling and keep our chins up.”

The Eagles won every game against the Dragons by at least 100 pins, finishing with a total pinfall of 2,193 to Del Sol’s 1,783.

The team has touted chemistry as the driving factor behind this season’s success, and the case remains the same now as the Eagles prepare for the second half of their season. The Eagles took on the Chaparral Cowboys Wednesday afternoon at Sam’s Town, but the match was not completed in time for the Boulder City Review’s deadline.

The Cowboys took seven of nine points when the two schools met the first time. Since that initial meeting, no other team has delivered a blemish to Boulder City’s record.

“We just have to think about the good shots and not the bad,” said junior Dylan Amico. “We have to have a fresh mindset and not think about our losses.”

The Lady Eagles bowled well against Del Sol, but only managed to leave with two out of a possible nine points. Bailey Bennett-Jordan and Emily Owens led the team with 123 averages. The Lady Eagles have a 27-18 record on the season.

Boulder City has four regular season matches left on the schedule.

After a two week break for the holidays, both teams will return to the lanes Jan. 6 against Sunrise Mountain at Sam’s Town. All matches begin at 3 p.m.
