Gun control would not stop tragedy

To all personnel in uniform whether military, police or firefighters who put their lives in harm’s way daily, I thank you for your service.

This unfortunate incident at Fort Hood has set the liberals and Democrats at it again; every time there is a tragic event, they want to ramp up their agenda on the issue of gun control.

It gets their gun control base all energized and blowing smoke in everyone’s face that will listen to them. We have background checks already, and the weapon used was purchased legally.

It is a tragic event, but if people intend to do evil things, it is pretty hard to stop no matter if it is done with a gun, knife and bomb or by some other weapon.

I think it should be mandatory that all military personnel on any base should be armed. After all they are already qualified.

All I know is, I would rather be armed and at least have the ability to defend myself and others, rather than be unarmed and defenseless. I’ll take my chances; I’d rather be tried by 12 than carried by six.

Attorney says video vindicates his actions

On April 3, the Boulder City Review printed a story without doing any independent investigating or even attempting to contact the other side. This story is full of false information, but please don’t simply take my word for it.

The incident in question was videotaped, and the video is available on YouTube (simply go to www.youtube.com and search “Stephen Stubbs Arrested”). Please watch the video and judge for yourself.

Particularly interesting are the first five seconds, where I am standing with my client (after he has invoked his Fifth Amendment right to counsel). I said to the two police officers, “I’ll be there if that’s all right,” and the sergeant responded “That’s perfectly fine.”

The video completely contradicts last week’s story.
