Bowling News

Boulder Bowl has ended its summer season and the fall leagues are underway.

The bowling alley’s premier summer league is the Hi Lo Scratch. Winners in the league’s four divisions are:

Division A: Joe Merrill, 77 points overall and a Boulder Bowl record-setting average of 237.

Division B: Frank Koper, 58.5 points and 187 average.

Division C: Glenn Cauda, 68 points and 170 average.

Division D: Bob Smale, 71.5 points and 134 average.

The league’s overall average leaders were Joe Merrill, 237; Lyle Jensen, 213; and Matt Freiberg, 209.

Also during the summer, the bowling alley introduced the sport to many new people through its third annual kids bowl free promotion. Boulder Bowl is the only bowling center in Nevada to participate in the nationwide program.

There are still a few openings for the fall leagues.

Tuesday Trios, held at 9 a.m. Tuesdays, needs one more bowler. The Senior league, held at noon Wednesdays, needs five bowlers 50 or older.
