Each week the coaches at Boulder City High School nominate an athlete to spotlight for contributions made to his or her team. This week’s honoree is senior Cortney Blumenthal, who plays opposite/middle blocker for the varsity volleyball team. During the team’s Sept. 1 victory over Basic, Blumenthal had one ace, seven kills, two blocks and four digs. “Cortney has gone from playing just front row to being a six-rotation player and one of our better passers and servers,” said coach Cherise Hinman. She also was cited for her team spirit and leadership, community service.
