Lady Eagles continue to roll

Advancing to 7-1-3 on the season, Boulder City High School girls soccer defeated The Meadows this past week, while tying with Equipo Academy.

Routing The Meadows 6-3 on Sept. 30, Savanna Starley stole the show with a three-goal performance for the Eagles.

“Savanna really stepped it up during the Meadows game and became a key player up front,” head coach Kristin Shelton said. “This was by far the best game she has played and I know she will keep the momentum going the rest of the season.”

Adding another dynamic scoring punch to the Eagles offense, Sophia Elburn added a pair of goals and an assist, while Lila Stankovic added a goal and a pair of assists.

Getting in on the action against The Meadows offensively, Malley Jobin and Susan Muir also dished out assists.

Playing lights out defensively, Stankovic led the way with six steals, part of a 34-steal effort by the team as a whole.

Muir also recorded five steals, while Shasta Ryan-Willett and Jobin each had four.

Tying with Equipo Academy 1-1 on Oct. 5, Stankovic scored on a penalty kick for the Eagles.

Currently in second place in the league standings, the Eagles will host rival Moapa Valley on Monday with hopes of staying on top.

“I told my girls, every game really counts so that we can reach our playoff goals,” Shelton said. “We had a great late win versus The Meadows and a disappointing tie versus Equipo, but as long as we look to play at the top of our game for the remaining matches, I think we have a great shot a being one of the top teams.”
