Soccer team begins to turn season around
Starting to turn the season around in the second half, Boulder City High School boys soccer tied with a pair of league opponents this past week.
Coming off a victory against Cristo Rey on Sept. 24, the Eagles tied with The Meadows 1-1 on Sept. 29 and rival Virgin Valley 2-2 on Oct. 1, putting together a solid three-game stretch.
Battling to the wire with division leader Virgin Valley, the Eagles rallied back from a 2-0 first-half deficit, behind goals from Kayden Wells and Luke Tenney.
Holding a 1-0 lead against The Meadows for the majority of the game courtesy of a Wells goal, the Eagles settled for a tie with the Mustangs.
Looking to continue their turnaround, the Eagles will travel to Pahrump Valley today.
Cross country
Competing in the CSN Invitational at Floyd Lamb State Park, Oliver Potter finished 23rd out of 153 runners for Boulder City High School cross country.
Providing a strong showing for the Eagles, Caleb Wolfe finished 37th for the boys, while Zoey Hayes finished 89th out of 114 runners for the girls.
Continuing on with the season, the Eagles will host the Lake Mead Invitational at Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday.
Girls volleyball
Boulder City High School girls volleyball split a pair of games this past week, defeating league rival Pahrump Valley, while falling to 5A Liberty.
Defeating Pahrump Valley 3-1 on Sept. 29, the Eagles avenged their Sept. 1 defeat to the Trojans.
Winning 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, Juliette Kelso led the way with 15 kills and two blocks, while Bella Battistone added 12 kills, six digs and two blocks.
Laylani Gubler filled the stat sheet for the Eagles, dishing out 21 assists, with 13 digs, eight kills, three serving aces and three blocks, while Addison Welbourne added 12 digs.
In a 3-0 defeat to Liberty on Oct. 1, Battistone added five kills and four digs.
Currently in fourth place in the division and fighting for a playoff spot, the Eagles will host Democracy Prep on Tuesday.
