Relay for Life Meets Goals

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life drew 500 people in 16 teams for the overnight event April 26-27 to the Boulder City High School track, and raised more than $36,000. The night was filled with music, games, and, most importantly, a group of individuals gathering to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Part of the money raised stays here in Boulder City to fund the Cancer Closet which provides free supplies for those who have cancer. Local sponsors included Albertsons, Jack’s Place, The Dillinger Food & Drinkery, Evan’s Old Town Grille, Dave Olsen, Chamber of Commerce, City of Boulder City, Boulder City High, The Rainbow Girls, Sunrise Rotary, Boulder Dam Brewing, Boulder Dam Credit Union and Qwest Diagnostics.

Webb receives certificate of appreciation

Daughters of the American Revolution regent Debbie Carroll and DAR Constitution chairwoman Luanna Mitchell of the Silver State Chapter of Boulder City, recently presented Holly Webb with a certificate of appreciation.

‘Genesis’ takes top prize at movie awards

More than 150 people attended the high school’s first Boulder City Movie Awards ceremony April 11 that saw a group of four students combine to win the top prize for Best Picture. The top prize went to “Genesis,” a film about a foster child looking for her real father. It edged out the two more humorous competitors: “Date Cycle” and “Science Camp.”

Palm Expands Mausoleum

The Palm Boulder City Mausoleum celebrated the completion of its expansion with a special ribbon cutting April 10. The mausoleum, which first opened in 1983, added 98 single niches and 42 companion niches to the east end of the structure, next to the Boulder City Cemetery on Adams Boulevard.

Pet of the Week

n Spring Story Time has arrived at the Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd. Every Wednesday during April is preschool story time for ages 2-5 from 10-10:30 a.m., followed by toddler story time from 10:30-11 a.m. for youngsters 36 months and younger. Both sessions are held in the library board room. Call Kimberly Diehm, youth services librarian, at 293-1281 for more information.
