Softball leagues set to crown champs

The adult softball tournaments presented by the Boulder City Parks and Recreation Department are underway.

In the men’s league, Duetto surprised Pit Stop with a 9-7 win and The Credit Union overtook Henderson’s No Glove No Love 21-12. All four teams remain in contention for the top spot. A fall winner will be decided tonight when play begins at 6 p.m. at the ballfields at Hemenway Valley Park.

The coed softball teams battled in the first round of their tournament on Sunday night. Boulder Dam Brewing Co. beat the league front-runner, Boulder Bowl, in the second round 12-9. They will play The Henderson Villains, which advanced past T.Q. Pallets 11-10, at 6 p.m. Sunday.

The Credit Union plays T.Q. Pallets and Jack’s Place plays Boulder Bowl in an elimination round at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Hemenway fields. The tournament concludes Sunday, with the final game to determine the fall champ starting at 8.

Final game in volleyball league to be played Monday

Women’s volleyball concludes its tournament Monday in the new gymnasium at the city’s recreation center, 900 Arizona St. Volleygirls, Synergy and Heavy Hitters are leading the way in the winner’s bracket, according to Kelly Lehr, sports coordinator for the parks and recreation department.

The semifinals will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the championship game being played at 7:20.
