Each week the coaches at Boulder City High School nominate an athlete to spotlight for contributions made to his or her team. This week’s honoree is senior Luke Logan, a member of the boys golf team. He was the individual medalist in all three of the team’s Sunrise League matches, shooting a 1 under par 71 twice and 6 over par 77, leading the team to victory each time. He is the son of Jennifer and Shawn Logan.

Golfers Take League Match

Luke Logan hits a chip shot on the first hole in the Division I-A match held April 9 at the Boulder City municipal golf course. Logan shot a 1 under par 71 to help Boulder City win the event, coming in with a team score of 411. Quentin Turner shot 83, Kyler Atkinson shot 84, Hunter Ulibarri shot 85, Samu Jancuk shot 88 and Jackson Wright shot 90. It was the team’s third consecutive league victory.

It was 22 years ago this month. A couple from California was visiting Las Vegas. They walked near a union picket line in front of the then-Frontier Hotel. Crazed picketers launched into a verbal assault on the couple. When the woman took offense, she was punched in the face. When her husband came to her defense, he had a beer mug smashed across his skull.

Recognition may — or may not — state the obvious
