1 ALL ABOUT EWE: Learn about the bighorn sheep that frequently visit the area from Nevada Department of Wildlife experts between 1-3:30 p.m. today at Hemenway Valley Park, 401 Ville Drive. Get basic facts about the animals and tips to watch them safely from a distance. Though sheep from the River Mountain Herd regularly visit the park, there is no guarantee they will attend the afternoon presentation.

2 WALK ON THE WILD SIDE: Join a ranger from Lake Mead National Recreation Area for a moonlight hike Saturday along the Historic Railroad Trail. While walking learn about nocturnal animals, their lifestyles and how the darkness benefits them. The hike starts at 7:30 p.m. Call 702-293-8990 for more information.

3 FEELING BLUE: Influenced by legendary artists such as Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Eric Clapton and ZZ Top, the Full Throttle Blues Band will bring its authentic mix of blues, rock ’n’ roll, reggae, and soul music to Jack’s Place from 6-10 p.m. Saturday. The four-piece group cranks out everything from traditional to contemporary tunes. Admission is free. Jack’s Place is at 544 Nevada Way. Call 702-293-2200 for more information.

A rad evening in downtown Boulder City

Saturday night, a large crowd donned their best 1980s attire, which included an abundance of neon-colored clothing as part of the aptly-named Neon Nights. The block party was hosted by Main Street Boulder City and served as a make-up event for their planned New Year’s Eve celebration, which was canceled due to impending weather. Attendees filled the restautants and bars along the steet, while listening to 80s music played by DJ Mike Pacini.

A weekend of art

This past weekend, the Boulder City Art Guild hosted its annual Artists in Action show and sale at the Boulder City Parks and Rec gym. While members do not have to live in Boulder City, all participants must be members of the Art Guild. Top, Boulder City artist Barbara Pearce uses a dotting technique to paint images onto rocks. Shakespeare returns to BC

This past Friday evening, a large and appreciative crowd turned out for the Nevada Shakespeare Festival’s performance of “Henry V” in Bicentennial Park. The performance was hosted by Main Street Boulder City and the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce. NSF featured six actors and actresses, who each played six to eight characters during the 80-minute performance.
