ART IN THE PARK: Boulder City Hospital Foundation presents its 53rd annual Art in the Park on Saturday and Sunday in Bicentennial Park, 999 Colorado St. The event showcases the work of fine art, fine craft and traditional craft artists. More than 350 artists are expected to participate. Admission to the benefit for Boulder City Hospital is free. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. GOLDEN TUNES: Stolen Gold performs at Boulder Dam Brewing Co. on Friday. The Las Vegas-based band takes its audience on a journey through generations of hits, showcasing golden hits from the 1950s to modern alternative rock, with a bit of country thrown in for good measure. CHOCOLATE AND WINE: The Western National Parks Association will present a Taza Mexican chocolate and wine tasting event Saturday at the Alan Bible Visitor Center, 10 Lakeshore Road, at Lake Mead National Recreation Area. It begins at 7 p.m. Participants must be 21 or older and have proof of age and identity. Cost is $35 per person and the event is limited to 25 people. A rad evening in downtown Boulder City

Saturday night, a large crowd donned their best 1980s attire, which included an abundance of neon-colored clothing as part of the aptly-named Neon Nights. The block party was hosted by Main Street Boulder City and served as a make-up event for their planned New Year’s Eve celebration, which was canceled due to impending weather. Attendees filled the restautants and bars along the steet, while listening to 80s music played by DJ Mike Pacini.

A weekend of art

This past weekend, the Boulder City Art Guild hosted its annual Artists in Action show and sale at the Boulder City Parks and Rec gym. While members do not have to live in Boulder City, all participants must be members of the Art Guild. Top, Boulder City artist Barbara Pearce uses a dotting technique to paint images onto rocks. Shakespeare returns to BC

This past Friday evening, a large and appreciative crowd turned out for the Nevada Shakespeare Festival’s performance of “Henry V” in Bicentennial Park. The performance was hosted by Main Street Boulder City and the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce. NSF featured six actors and actresses, who each played six to eight characters during the 80-minute performance.
