1 HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE: Learn about the people and events that shaped Boulder City on a visit to the Boulder City-Hoover Dam Museum. Filled with exhibits and interactive displays, the museum focuses on the early days of Boulder City and the construction of Hoover Dam. It is housed inside the Boulder Dam Hotel, 1305 Arizona St. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children and students.
1 EVENING EXCURSION: Get those holiday PJs ready for Nevada Southern Railway’s Pajama Train. The train departs the depot at 6 and 8 p.m. tonight and Friday, Dec. 14 and 15, with additional trips planned on Dec. 21, 22 and 23. Visits from Santa, story telling, hot chocolate and cookies highlight each round-trip ride. The trip begins and ends at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, 601 Yucca St. Tickets range from $20 to $30 per person, depending on type of seating. 1 LIGHT UP THE NIGHT: Christmas festivities get into full swing at St. Jude’s Ranch for Children during the 11th annual Night of Lights. Between 5-8 p.m. Saturday the ranch will be aglow in colorful lights as music, games, a hayride and performance by magician Lance Burton fill the schedule of activities. Boulder City’s Dam Short Film Festival received a $7,000 grant to help with promotional costs from the Nevada Commission on Tourism.
1 HOMES ON PARADE: The Boulder City Branch of the American Association of University Women will present their 42nd annual Home Tour. Dressed in their holiday finest, six homes and the Boulder Dam Hotel will be showcased on the self-guided tour. Tickets are $10. 1 ELECTRIC PARADE: Downtown Boulder City will be awash in an assortment of colorful lights for Santa’s Electric Night Parade. The annual event features floats and vehicles covered in lights, musical ensembles and, of course, Santa Claus. The parade, presented by the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce, begins at 4:30 p.m. and travels through the historic district along Nevada Way.
