Pilot arrested after taking plane on drunken joy ride

A pilot was arrested Sunday after police said he stole a small plane from the Boulder City Airport for a drunken joy ride. Paul Michael Weddle, 47, was arrested by Boulder City Police and charged with operating an aircraft under the influence of a drug or alcohol, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle/aircraft and obstructing a police officer, said detective Sgt. John Glenn. According to Weddle’s arrest report, he blew a 0.132 on his preliminary alcohol breath test.

A 14-year-old dirt bike rider from Canyon City, Colo., died Thursday on State Route 165, just outside Boulder City limits near Nelson, after colliding with a vehicle, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

BC opts to stay in division with smaller schools

Last week, Bob Halstead, director of the Nevada Agency for Nuclear Projects, spoke before the Nye County Commission. He briefed the commissioners on funding deficits and other problems facing the federal efforts to build a dump for high-level nuclear wastes. In the course of his presentation, Halstead reported on some of the misinformation that is floating around about Yucca Mountain in Nye County, previously the all-­but-­certain site for the dump.
