I have a lot on my heart these days. The good news is that my heart is in great health. So… allow me to start with that.

Living in Southern Nevada, we know there comes a point each summer when opening the front door feels more like opening up the oven.

Where does the time go?

The USA is the longest standing democratic republic in the history of the world. Much history has passed since the country declared its independence from Great Britain, hasn’t it? Even the king of England celebrated our independence by visiting the United States of America in April of this year.

For most Boulder City kids, summer vacation is quickly coming to an end as classes are set to begin the second week of August.

While the summer may be wrapping up, we have some great resources to help you get ready for school and some amazing programs in August. No matter what grade you are going into, whether it’s kindergarten or grad school, the library has a database or program for you.

For four years now I’ve covered the annual Boulder City Chamber of Commerce dinner and awards night. And for four years there’s a part that always gets me a bit misty-eyed.

This week is primary election week. And if we had a vote on pollution, I’m pretty sure what the outcome would be.

Have you ever noticed how life can feel perfectly calm, and then suddenly everything hits at once? The calm before the storm is a real phenomenon in nature. The atmosphere often becomes extra still and quiet just before a raging storm breaks. And then, when it finally rains, it often pours, as the saying goes.
