Be wary of surroundings to avoid being victim of crime

What can happen in 20 minutes? That’s barely time to put on your shoes and walk down the block, right? Let me assure you that your vehicle windows can be smashed and your purse, packages and property can be long gone. Most of the time, the items taken don’t amount to the loss from the window and vehicle repairs.

Police do not call to collect on warrants, debts

There have been a number of recent reports that are troubling in nature, and I want to make you aware to be on guard. If you receive a call or email from someone claiming to be a police officer, a lawyer or bail enforcement officer saying they have a warrant for your arrest, verify who you’re speaking with.

This week I will briefly touch on the emergency 911 system and what we will need from you in the event you need to dial it or its partner number, 311. Remember, 911 is limited to life-threatening emergencies; 311 is for those needs that are urgent but not emergent.

Honor guard pays respect to fallen officers

The Boulder City Honor Guard is part of the Southern Nevada regional multiagency honor guard, which means all Southern Nevada law enforcement agencies act as one unit when together. Some of the duties that could be requested of this group include rifle team (21 gun salute), colors (U.S. and Nevada flag with two rifles on either side), flag detail (all agency department flags), formations or to line procession routes. They participate in wreath detail, casket detail, parades or formal events.

Pam was only 43 years old when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She says she was disappointed, but not surprised. Pam has had several close family members, including her mother, diagnosed with breast cancer.
