Firehouse to hold pancake breakfast

In honor of the National Firefighter Memorial, the Boulder City Fire Department will host its annual pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the fire station, where we will be cooking and serving breakfast to all who join us. Our doors will be open to all.

Every year the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation hosts an event to encourage departments across the country to honor those men and women who have fallen in the line of duty in the past year. This year the Boulder City Fire Department, in association with the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation, will hold a ceremony honoring 81 men and women who gave their lives in the line of duty. They range from volunteers to paid career firefighters for structural and wild land.

The pancake breakfast is a great opportunity to come out and meet your Boulder City firefighters. We will be serving pancakes and sausage with coffee and juice.

We encourage parents to bring their children, and let them meet a firefighter, look at the trucks and take a tour of the fire station. This is a wonderful opportunity to get a glimpse of the life of a firefighter and to see what our lives are like at the firehouse.

It is on this day that firefighters across the nation are united in brotherhood. Come join us Saturday morning to honor those who have fallen in the past year.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at the firehouse at 702-293-9228. Thanks, and we all look forward to seeing you Saturday morning.

Brian Shea is a Boulder City paramedic/firefighter.
