Hours of operation: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday at 813 Arizona St., 702-293-3320. Visit the center’s website at www.seniorcenterbouldercity.org.

Free computers/Internet to members: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Morning coffee, snacks, newspapers: 8-10 a.m.

Library/gift shop: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lunch hour: 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Suggested donation $2 (60 and older), $5 fee (59 or younger). Meals-on-Wheels are delivered Monday through Friday to the homebound.*

To mark October’s observance of breast cancer awareness month, those visiting the center are encouraged to wear a pink shirt every Monday in October.

Today: Beef stroganoff over noodles, Brussels sprouts, salad

Friday: Herb baked chicken, baked potato, vegetables, dessert

Monday: Tomato bisque, grilled cheese, salad bar, dessert

Tuesday: Baked fish, steamed potatoes, zucchini, Waldorf salad

Wednesday: Chicken Parmesan over pasta, carrots, salad

Walking my dogs around the neighborhood, early in the morning to beat the heat, I’ve noticed residents being mindful of water usage, taking steps to conserve in multiple ways. Several homes within a six-block radius have removed or are in the process of replacing their grass with desertscape (xeriscape) or artificial grass. Early morning watering schedules are being adhered to – before 9 a.m., for optimal lawn health and water conservation.
