Bennett pleads guilty to sexual assault, kidnapping, coercion

Peter Bennett, the Boulder City man who was charged with several counts of sexual assault, kidnapping and coercion in 2013, pleaded guilty to sexual assault in District Court on Monday, the day his jury trial was scheduled to begin.

Bennett, 68, was booked on open and gross lewdness involving a minor in August 2013. Shortly after, he was booked on attempted kidnapping and attempted sexual assault after an adult victim came forward, the Boulder City Review previously reported.

In total, Bennett was charged with 34 counts.

His sentencing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Aug. 13 in Clark County District Court.

Man, woman apprehended in string of burglaries

A man and a woman were booked on burglary charges in Boulder City on June 16 for crimes that occurred in the Las Vegas Valley, according to Police Chief Bill Conger.

Alexander Cloutier, 28, and Cecilia Chavez, 22, face several burglary charges involving cases in Boulder City and Las Vegas.

Police recovered a stolen gun and other items when the two were booked. Conger said. Both Boulder City and Las Vegas police worked together on the case, though it remains under investigation.

Old, unused prescription drugs can be dropped off Friday at event

The Nevada Community Prevention Coalition is sponsoring a Drug Take Back day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday outside the Boulder City Police Department, 1005 Arizona St.

Area residents are asked to bring expired and unused prescription drugs to the event so they can be safely disposed of in a secured, locked box inside the police station.

NCPC staff and volunteers will be outside the station with information about its activities and area resources.
