Registration underway for city's youth soccer league

 

In preparation for its youth soccer league, Boulder City Parks and Recreation Department is presenting several clinics for players.

Clinics for those in kindergarten will be held at 6 p.m Aug. 26 or 27, while one for those in first or second grade will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 26 or 27.

Clinics for those in grades 3-5 will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 1 or 2, while those for children in grades 6-8 will be offered at 7 p.m. Sept. 1 or 2.

The six-week league is open to children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Division assignments will be based on the grade the child will be in when the new school year starts.

All games will be played at Pratte Field at Veterans Memorial Park, 1650 Buchanan Blvd.

Registration for the league is $39 per child; it includes a uniform. Those interested in playing must register by Sept. 3 or they will be placed on a waiting list.

Registration will be accepted at the recreation center, 900 Arizona St.

Maxx's golf event to benefit area veterans, parade

 

Maxx's at the Oasis is presenting a golf event, dinner cigar social and fundraiser Sept. 9 at Boulder Creek Golf Club, 1501 Veterans Memorial Drive.

The event begins at 2:30 p.m. with the afternoon golf event. It will be a nine-hole scramble shotgun format. Cost is $100 per golfer or $300 for a foursome.

Dinner is scheduled for 6 p.m., with the cigar social and fundraiser set for 7 p.m. at Maxx's at the Oasis, 708 Nevada Way.

Proceeds at the event will benefit local veterans who want to participate in the annual Veterans Day parade in Las Vegas.

A variety of sponsorships also are available.
