Boulder City Animal Control is here to help us with our pets. Our animal control division is staffed by two full-time officers. Our animal control officers certainly have lots of work to do, because animals need care 24/7.

Vaccinations are not just for children. In fact, you need vaccines throughout your adult life to protect yourself and others from diseases that can be very serious.
I begin this week with an opportunity for those of you who may be retired or looking for a little extra spending money and to be of service to your community. The police department is actively seeking crossing guards to work this school year and assist us in safeguarding one of our most precious resources: our children.

This week we begin with a little reminder about items that may block your view hanging from the rearview mirror in your vehicle. Some people like necklaces, tassels, rosaries, air fresheners or handicapped placards. Unfortunately, it’s illegal and could be dangerous and distracting.
Here’s just a little information to introduce you to a Boulder City program that you may not be familiar with: Breaking the Cycle Drug Court. This program was created to give subjects with a history of legal charges and a substance dependence diagnosis an opportunity to seriously address their addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. The program not only treats the addiction of the participant, but provides an opportunity to get back the losses of the addiction.
School starts a little bit earlier this year, with the first day of school this year Aug. 14.
Boulder City Police Department has added a new K-9 officer.
I’ve been asked to put out just a little bit of information about what is and is not eligible for disposal at the drop container inside the lobby of the police department. The list of permissible items is pretty small: prescription medication. What is not: everything else.
