Crime prevention starts with following the rules

Think back. Remember the excitement you experienced as a child standing in front of the ice cream cooler? Or how about when you waited up for Santa? Wow! I remember jumping up and down, thinking my feet would never touch the ground.

Take precautions to stay warm this winter

The winter months are almost officially upon us. Temperatures have been steadily decreasing, getting close to or below freezing at night. As the weather changes around us we become more conscious of how it affects our bodies.

Broken window may signal multiple problems

Did you see that? The broken window on that house or how about the car; it looks abandoned. The crime-based broken window theory surveys how “norm-setting” is affected by urban disorder. The theory hit the mainstream in 1982. However, studies in the late ’60s first examined the question of urban spoil.

Losing a child is likely the most devastating and distraught time in a parent’s life. On Sept. 14, one of Boulder City’s own, 2008 BCHS graduate Lani Lunden, suffered a tragic bicycle accident in Reno. According to information, she suffered a severe TBI.

200-year-old principles guide policing

In 1829 the “Father of Modern Policing” established the Metropolitan Police Force in Scotland Yard. I know, I can hear it already; “Why are we discussing almost 200 years ago?”

Take steps to avoid danger of flash floods

This year has brought a lot of rain to Boulder City, including a storm Monday that brought some wind, too. Although we don’t have a lot of flash flood problems in Boulder City, there are many more challenges for those of us who venture down into the valley.
