Spring may be the best of all times to visit Utah’s Zion National Park, offering delights unique to the season. The landscape is greening up, young leaves are growing on the deciduous trees, and some of the birds can be seen nesting. Weather is often ideal for hiking and sightseeing.

There are hundreds of slot canyons in Utah’s Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, but most are hard to find, and it may take days afoot to reach them. A few, however, are accessed fairly easily on a day trip, as long as you are up to driving rough gravel roads and able to hike a round-trip of a few moderate miles.
Most people only know the name of Yuma, Arizona, from “3:10 to Yuma” the 2007 film starring Russell Crowe and Christian Bale. The movie ends before anybody actually gets to Yuma, so we never catch a glimpse of this place, so famous but so seldom seen.
To raise money for improvements to Boulder City’s outdoor pickleball courts, the city is co-sponsoring a Mix-Up/Fix-Up Pickleball Tournament March 23-26.
