Last week the Columbia Journalism Review, a publication that polices journalism practices and policies, ran an article about the use of the terms “gambling” and “gaming” to describe gambling. The Review managed never to take a position on the dispute. In fact, the article appeared to have been written off the top of the author’s head after a trip to Las Vegas with little research.

I presume the resident was raising children during this time. From 1957 to 1963 “Leave It to Beaver” portrayed a different America from today. Family, parents, children and social responsibility had defined identities. Good, bad or indifferent, it was a vision that reminds me of Boulder City.

Boulder City’s Chandler Harkins recorded his best time ever over the 3.1-mile course at Veterans Memorial Park to finish in third place Oct. 12 in the Lake Mead Invitational. It is the largest cross-country meet in Nevada this season.

Tennis teams in regional championships

Boulder City has five singles players and five doubles teams competing in the Division 1-A Southern Region Tennis Championships that started Wednesday and continues through Saturday at three sites in Las Vegas.
