74 sheep die on way to Searchlight

 

A trailer toting sheep overturned on Monday when it was heading toward Searchlight at the U.S. Highway 93/95 split, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

A Boulder City Police report said of the 250 sheep, 74 died in the accident, but that no people were hurt. Traffic was narrowed down to one lane in both directions on U.S. Highway 95 as crews were waiting on a tow truck.

Members of the Boulder City Horseman's Association volunteered to bring trailers to help transport the remaining sheep, according to the report. Injured sheep with broken limbs were taken care of as well.

The accident happened around 3 p.m., according to NHP. All of the surviving sheep were accounted for and taken care of as of 6 p.m.

 

Rotary clubs' fundraiser kicks off

 

The Boulder City Sunrise Rotary Club, in association with the Rotary Club of Boulder City, has started its month-long campaign Boots for Troops, a fundraiser supporting the deployment of the 137th Military Police Detachment out of the Nevada Army National Guard.

The Rotary clubs have donated $10,000 to the the unit in order to help members travel home for the holidays, and are seeking help raising funds to further provide for the service member's families during deployment.
